Anti sexual Violence

Liberia is grappling with rising incidences of sexual and gender-based violence. Children as young as six are being raped, with devastating impact on their health and wellbeing. Little Decontee from Nimba County was returning from the farm.

Anti sexual Violence

Through grassroots organizations and community outreach, these women have been at the forefront of creating safe spaces for survivors of sexual violence, offering counseling, legal assistance, and health services, while also organizing public awareness campaigns that educate both men and women about consent, gender equality, and the importance of respectful relationships

By collaborating with local and international partners, new Liberian women have advocated for comprehensive policy reforms that address the root causes of sexual violence, including poverty, lack of education, and gender inequality, while also pushing for better support systems, such as shelters and helplines, to ensure that survivors have access to the resources they need to heal and rebuild their lives

Many Liberian women have played a crucial role in changing societal attitudes towards sexual violence, working to shift cultural norms that have historically perpetuated silence and victim-blaming, and encouraging survivors to speak out without fear of judgment, thus fostering a culture of support and empowerment for those affected by such trauma.

These courageous women have not only led efforts to combat sexual violence within Liberia but have also served as role models for other women and girls, showing that through solidarity, education, and activism, it is possible to challenge harmful practices, protect victims, and create a safer and more just society for future generations.
